Happy Earth Hour

I love the brilliant scheduling for "Earth Hour" - on the Saturday of the NCAA Final Four.
For kids, the night of the Kids Choice awards on Nick.
Time to bring back Trace Adkins.

If we lose, you're partisan

As we await the Supreme Court to overturn Obamacare, liberals have the spin ready.
The Republicans on the Court are too partisan.
Sure, the four Democratic appointees vote together, but it's the Republicans that are partisan.
And who Democrats will blame.
  • Bush v. Gore
  • Citizens United
  • now, Obamacare
It's their proof of partisanship.
Let them have their crying towels.

Saturday song

Is this the soundtrack of the Supreme Court deliberations on Obamacare, after this week's hearings?

MegaMillions and Obamacare

The past three days, people have thronged to stores in hopes a random set of numbers bring them riches.
That's after three days of Supreme Court arguments, cleaning up after Democrats threw random words into the bill that became Obamacare.

What a week

A great time to be a conservative.
Three days of kicking Obamacare, then a Friday kicking of Keith Olbermann.
Seven more months to Election Day.

Next for Keith Olbermann

If Current TV dumps you, where do you go?
3 a.m. cable access show somewhere.
Time to bring back his song, probably for the last time. Since Olbermann called Glenn Beck "Lonesome Rhodes" from some movie before I was born, here's the parody based on "I'm so lonesome I could cry." Because somewhere, Keith Olbermann is crying tonight.

Hear the popular talk show host
His fans come in sky high
My numbers took another blow
I'm so loathsome I could cry

I've never seen a crowd so big
They fill the mall, oh my
Hear Sarah Palin wow the crowd
I'll hide my face and cry

Did you ever see a grown man cry
When his hope begins to die?
That means nobody watches my show
I'm so loathsome I could cry

Can't silence this big radio star
Can't beat him though I try
And as I drop out of sight
I'm so loathsome I will cry

Cocaine at Fontaine

Nice to see what the neighbors at work are doing.Who brings a bag of cocaine with them to a secure building?
One with records of all employees who enter and exit as part of the security system.
We've had a bomb threat and white powder threat near my office building this week.
What's next?
Locusts?

Conspiracy don'ts

The George Zimmerman case teaches us a few things about conspiracies.
If Zimmerman is part of a conspiracy, he's doing a lousy job.
  • If you're going to shoot somebody, you don't call the police first.
  • If you're doing a coverup, you don't release video footage of those involved.
Can't wait for the next news drop.

Pushing it too far

National Review Online looks at a possible backlash to the Contraception battle - pushing the Catholic Supreme Court justices against Obamacare.
One trivial thought that I have not seen elsewhere: I wonder if the Left/Obama/Kathleen Sebelius didn’t shoot themselves in the backside when they decided to apply a chainsaw to the religious liberty of the Catholic hospitals, etc. That episode, I think, brought out in sharp relief the unprecedented degree of coercion inexorably inherent in Obamacare, the eagerness with which the Left employs it, and the thoughtlessness with which the Left is willing to destroy the institutions of civil society as they pursue their political goals.
Thanks for showing the true face of Obamacare - not helping the unfortunate, but crushing opponents.

Rush - I can hear him now

Rush Limbaugh is on the radio today.
How's Media Matters doing?
The Twitter and social media war launched by Media Matters in coordination with “independent” groups has been reduced to a few dead-enders going after small advertisers in small markets, hoping to find someone, anyone, they can bully.
They’re so desperate that they’re now firing at plumbers, roofers, fitness centers, car dealerships, tire stores, weight loss centers, and vision centers.
Keep talking Rush, and we'll keep listening.

"Do-nothing" Supreme Court

When Obamacare is overturned, what will be the Obama campaign theme?
They'll run against a "do-nothing" Supreme Court.

Think Obama can win?

Do you think President Obama will win re-election in November?
Many people do.
Many of those people thought there was no problem with Obamacare.
Oops.

What Zimmerman said

Rich Lowry looks at the parsing of George Zimmerman's call to police.
What did he say?
A vile epithet?
Maybe he said
"It's Obamacare."
You hear what you listen for.

Obamacare - the left's Battle of the Bulge

Things aren't looking good for the Obamacare side after two days of Supreme Court arguments.
Don Surber senses blood in the water.
I have a feeling that Obamacare will push the Roberts Court toward individual liberty and limited government. There was a song after the Great War, “How Ya Gonna Keep ‘em Down On The Farm (After They’ve Seen Paree).” How ya gonna keep them down with the interstate commerce clause after they kill Obamacare? The meter is all wrong, but it is the thought that counts. How ironic that The Won who promised to transform the country may indeed be The One who pushed it in a new direction — away from the paternalistic socialistic state that he desires.
This could be the left's last stand before their destruction. They extended the arguments too far, fired up the opposition and have no answer if their plans fail.
Run right through them, as DaTech Guy says.

Watch out, cashiers

It was a busy day at 7-11, Sheetz and other convenience stores - people buying MegaMillions tickets.
But nobody won the jackpot.
Next drawing is Friday. Cashiers will be very busy until then.
Jackpot will be around half a billion. If you win, you can pay your part of the national debt.

Talk about catastrophic coverage

Instapundit has the links of Tuesday's Supreme Court action.
Insurance companies aren't putting their money on this high-risk pool.

Getting ready for day three

After two days of Supreme Court arguments, SWACgirl brings back memories of the September 2009 protest rally.
Why not roll out one of my song parodies from the vote on this law, which may not make it to summer.
Here's Tim McGraw's "I like it, I love it" turned into a Tea Party song.

Spent forty-eight weeks talking 'bout ObamaCare
We keep saying no; they aren't getting anywhere
They keep looking for sweet words we'd like to hear
I wonder if they've seen our protests all year
They're gonna get fired, if they don't listen to us
Pelosi and Reid will be thrown under the bus

I don't like it, don't love it, don't want no more of it
They try so hard
But they still can't pass it
Don't know what it is 'bout that crazy ol' bill
I don't like it, don't love it, don't want no more of it

My mama and daddy tried to teach me right and wrong
Like don't talk to Rahm when he's wearing just a thong
Now they're holding up Congress instead of talking jobs
They think we'll change if their stories make you sob
I'm crossin' my fingers
and countin' every vote
Knowing that this bill just ain't gonna float

I don't like it, don't love it, don't want no more of it
They try so hard
But they still can't pass it
Don't know what it is 'bout that crazy ol' bill
I don't like it, don't love it, don't want no more of it

Got to get my truck
Gas it up
To head on down to D.C.
If we'd sit down in their office
We won't move any closer
They'll never convince me

But I don't like it, don't love it, don't want no more of it
They try so hard
But they still can't pass it
Don't know what it is 'bout that crazy ol' bill
I don't like it, don't love it, don't want no more of it

Don't forget to turn out the lights

His instincts stink

Via Instapundit, Bob Krumm boils it down.
So what do we know of President Obama’s instincts. In the absence of complete knowledge, apparently he reflexively views typical white people, particularly the police, as bitter clingers to antiquated doctrines. Meanwhile, he appears to be solicitous towards adversaries and competitors, even at the expense of friends and while giving short shrift to long-time allies.
There is a name for this kind of instinct: it is called bad judgment.

ADA costs touchdown

How much does it cost to retrofit a football stadium for the American with Disabilities Act?
Bluefield, West Virginia is looking at $500,000 to bring its football stadium, built in the 1930s, up to the standard. That's a lot of money for a small town, shrinking for years as the coal trade dwindled.
Handicapped fans have watched games - college, high school, semi-pro and youth - for years. They likely had to watch at field level, but people worked to make their visit enjoyable.
Now, they have a government deadline to make some changes to restrooms and seating to meet the law. Maybe more than they've put into the stadium in years.
People care for their friends.
Government cares for their rules being followed.

Why Democrats collect more signatures

Blue Virginia is celebrating that Tim Kaine turned in 4,000 more signatures than George Allen.
Does it mean anything?
Probably that Democrats know more of their signatures will be invalid. They have to collect more to keep pace.
Mickey Mouse must get tired, signing his name to all of those Kaine petitions.

President Etch-a-Sketch

No matter how scary the "Etch-a-Sketch" comment was from a Romney staffer, hearing Obama asking for space should really shake you up.

Hunger Games weekend

Did you watch the "Hunger Games" movie this weekend?
Couldn't get a ticket?
The family just saw it.
I was disappointed that the District 12 crowd - watching the action - didn't start chanting "Let's Go, Mountaineers."
Don't mess with the district that produces coal.

Sharpton hurts Trayvon

Don Surber. Dan Riehl and others see a major problem in the Trayvon Martin story - the presence of Al Sharpton.
If whites have to carry the racial baggage of Bull Connor, then Sharpton gets the baggage of Tawana Brawley and his other missteps.

The Santorum south

Another southern state, another win for Rick Santorum. He's in for the long haul, attracting voters who want to shake up Washington - not their campaign message after the primaries.

Obamacare must go down. It must go down hard

Oral arguments begin on the Obamacare law at the Supreme Court Monday.
Arguments have already begun in the blogs and internet.
Instapundit gives a nasty smackdown to a liberal trying to spin the looming loss.
I doubt the distortion was intentional. She probably just didn’t understand.
Let the fun begin.
We won't know if the law is constitutional until the justices look at it.

More questions than answers

With the Trayvon Martin case, there's so much wondering why Zimmerman hasn't been arrested.
Two reasons jump to fore
  • Racism
  • There most be something else we don't know
Dan Riehl has some information that's coming out, and Ace has some good questions about the case.
I like this one from Ace.
If he was attempting a murder, he went about it in a strange way -- calling police to arrive at the scene of the crime before there was a crime. He had no known motive against this Trayvon Martin fellow -- they'd never met.
There's more to come. Unfortunately, more jumping to conclusions to come also.

Gotcha central

The Other McCain has Rick Santorum's back.
If it weren't for "gotcha" questions, the media wouldn't know how to cover Santorum.
Santorum rises up, and media tries to "gotcha" him down.
And he's still going.

Obama's anchor

Charles Krauthammer nails Obamacare in one paragraph.
Rarely has one law so exemplified the worst of the Leviathan state — grotesque cost, questionable constitutionality and arbitrary bureaucratic coerciveness. Little wonder the president barely mentioned it in his latest State of the Union address. He wants to be reelected. He’d rather talk about other things.

Cantor - better than the Boob Czar

We have a new record day for hits on the blog - thanks to Instapundit linking my post on Eric Cantor's primary selection in Illinois.
He posted it just before midnight, giving it the prime spot atop the page for seven hours.
It jumped over 10,000 shortly after 4 p.m., not bad for a 16-hour period.
The post surpassed the previous record - the Boob Czar - but that didn't make the page until late morning.
I hope Rep. Cantor is happy with the interest.
UPDATE: Linked by SWACgirl.

Hop to it again

Usually, DVDs come out a few months after the movie.
But "Hop" had to wait a year, until the next Easter, to hop into stores. This weekend, you can bring Kaley and the Pink Berets home.

Know your astroturf

Legal Insurrection has an excellent collection of tweets and links with the history of the anti-Rush movement.
When it fails, this will be a tool to see why it happened.

Cantor knows what he's doing

Illinois had its primary Tuesday, and one district had a battle between Republican incumbents redistricted together.
Blue Virginia noted how foolish it was for Eric Cantor to pick sides, going with the younger Tea Party favorite - Adam Kinzinger.
What would happen if "crusty conservative Manzullo" won over Cantor's endorsement?
No problem.

Republican

VotesPct.
Adam Kinzinger 43,65355.9%
Donald Manzullo 34,46044.1%

UPDATE: Instapundit knows what's he's doing, picking up this post.
UPDATE2: Kinzinger won election in November 62% to 38%.

More poll silliness

Democrats are clinging to another poll putting their candidates in front for now.
Registered voters. Weak.
Democrats 31%
Republicans 26%. Weaker.
Those numbers in a state with Republicans in charge of the executive, House and tied in the Senate.
If Democrats were as strong as this poll says, why have they been drubbed so badly in 2009 and 2011?

Renewables - doing worse than North Dakota

When you downplay North Dakota's job growth due to its oil fields - and then try to promote renewables as the answer - you're looking for trouble.
Paul Krugman mocked the unemployment rate of North Dakota due to its small size. The oil and gas extraction industry has added 70,000 in the last few years.
Then they tout renewables as the fastest growing, basically going up 50% in the past few years.
But for an industry with 100,000 jobs, that increase is around 30,000 - fewer new jobs than the oil extraction industry added.
North Dakota is small.
The renewables industry is small.
If you fuss about one exalting their percentages, you can't make a big deal of your percentage increase from a small base.

Obama's bracket and the economy

I thought when President Obama's pick to win in the West regional - Missouri - lost, that his entire bracket was doomed.
But here, after the third day of the tournament, he's still at 97.4 percent of all brackets.
With such an important loss, how do his number remain high?
It remind me of the economic news now.
Unemployment seems to be dropping and people are spending more money. Aren't things getting better?
Maybe short-term, but the long term prognosis is not good.
Obama's bracket can only go down in the rankings. Someone will pick all eight of the Elite Eight correctly, and pick the Final Four right.
Obama's at his high water mark in the bracket challenge - and likely the economy.
In the short term he can appear to hang on. But the debt is his Missouri - the drag that ultimately dooms him.
UPDATE: Obama picked N.C. State to reach the Sweet Sixteen, and they did. We're never going to hear the end of that.
Even though his contribution is the same as his contribution to increased oil output over the last three years.

Obamacare - helping cute kids

Blue Virginia has the Obama push for it's health care bill - look at who we've helped.Keep looking at the cute kids and forget the price - or the government panels deciding who gets what.
Or how much in taxes these kids will have to pay to make it work.

Not quite old school hoops

Virginia is for upsets

Norfolk State became the fifth 15th-seed to win against a second-seed in the NCAA tournament.
The third team from the MEAC to do the trick.
The third team from Virginia, joining Richmond in 1991 and MEAC rival Hampton in 2001.
The best part?
President Obama picked Missouri to make the Final Four.
There goes his bracket.

Cut back? Never

Bloomberg looks at another pending financial disaster - health care guarantees for state retirees.
Is the problem
  • Benefits out of whack with reality
  • Private employers should be as generous as public.
Private employers have to live in reality. Government employees can make promises - and ask children yet unborn to pay for them.
Or else.

Hayes vs. Obama

President Obama offered an attack at President Rutherford B. Hayes - an Ohio Republican and war hero - during Thursday's speech.
How he does compare to Hayes?
Inventors like Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison visited Hayes.
  • They told their dreams
  • They showed what they had built.
  • And how it would make life better in the United States.
Investors like Solyndra visit Obama.
  • They told their dreams.
  • They asked for money to built things.
  • They don't turn out like the dreams.
Bell and Edison didn't need government support or mandates to make their inventions part of American life. People looked at them in action and knew they would make life better.
Obama's dreams?
Maybe in the future.
If we survive his policies and make it to the future.

They've run out of suckers

Karl Rove looks at President Obama's poor fundraising so far.
At the end of January, Team Obama had $91.7 million in cash in its coffers and those of the DNC. At the same point in 2004, the Bush campaign and Republican National Committee had $122 million in cash combined.
The Obama campaign's high burn rate doesn't come from large television buys, phone banks or mail programs that could be immediately stopped. It appears to result instead from huge fixed costs for a big staff and higher-than-expected fund-raising outlays. These are much tougher to unwind or delay. Left unaltered, they generally lead to even more frantic efforts to both raise money and stop other spending.
But for $3, you can havea chance at dinner with him.
Next quarter, there may be only four $3 donors for the dinner offer.

Democrats against SuperPac limits

Blue Virginia made some hay this week against Tim Kaine wanting a restriction on SuperPac funding in the race with George Allen. They think Allen should follow the Massachusetts example.
Except Massachusetts Democrats are unhappy with their candidate for agreeing to that deal.
Sources say some national Democratic officials and unions are unhappy with Warren agreeing to a pact with Republican Scott Brown that could severely limit super PACs and third-party groups from running attack ads.
Brown’s shrewd move to push the pledge comes as a number of polls show his popularity back on the rise in Massachusetts after it had slipped following a series of special-interest-group attack ads.
There's plenty of money in politics. Democrats like it when they have it, and don't like it when Republicans have it.

Guess they're going to make it

For the past 18 months, Zeus Theaters has been the place to see movies in Augusta County.
But they haven't had a free-standing sign along Lew DeWitt Blvd. to show which movies are there.
This week, the posts for a sign have gone up.
Guess we'll have a place to watch 3D movies in stadium seats for a while to come.

Did you watch? Didn't think so

Breitbart.com compares the viewing audiences of the Sarah Palin HBO movie and real-life Sarah in Alaska.
TLC's "Sarah Palin's Alaska" debuted in 2010 to five million viewers, more than double the HBO figure. Now, TLC isn't a pay channel like HBO, but the tally still undermines the narrative that audiences were clamoring to see a Palin takedown.

Happy Pi Day

I'll celebrate when I get 'round to it.

Santorum rises again

Newt planned to win Alabama and Mississippi.
Santorum did it.

"Strictly a referendum"

Don Surber brings the good news - focus on Obama and he's doomed.
Every presidential election is a referendum on the incumbent party. Absent some miracle, Obama loses. If someone wants to bet even or better money on him, cover the bet.
Romney may not know grits, but if the economy's the pits, Obama's doomed.

Today's Tied with Me

It's March Madness, so I checked my Technorati ranking for basketball.
None of the blogs I'm tied with emphasize basketball. But you can learn good conversation skills at one.

Dream on, Democrats

I love the silliness of Democrats over at Blue Virginia.
They think they can get a woman elected in 2013 as either lieutenant governor or attorney general.
Why?
Just because of the ultrasound bill.
First question -
Who?
Who's on the bench ready to take on a race for a statewide office?
It didn't work the last time they tried it.
Democrats ran a woman for Lt. Governor in 2009? How well did Jody do?
Democrats keep telling themselves the same story - "voters will find out what Republican really believe and they'll vote them out."
They talked about how radical Republicans were in 2009.
Result - a sweep of the top three statewide offices.
They talked about how radical Republicans were in 2011.
Result - Republicans reached 20 seats in the Senate and built their lead in the House.
Democrats have been beating the same themes for years. People didn't listen.
If the things Democrats thought mattered really mattered, Republicans wouldn't be doing so well in the state.
Other issues - like jobs and taxes - matter more to most Virginians.
They may not have the biggest voices, but their voice is big on Election Day.

Crowdsourcing the Anthem

Via Ace, a crowd at a Pennsylvania ice hockey game sings the National Anthem when there's no one scheduled to do the honor.
Good job, fans.

There he goes again

Tuesday, Republican voters in Mississippi and Alabma will be considering the issues and who will be best to lead the country.
Meanwhile, President Obama will be watching basketball in Ohio and thinking about his tournament picks.
Again.
It's good for the president to have his relaxation and share his love of sports with the country.
But in making these televised picks - of both the men's and women's fields - shows he's spending too much time watching basketball.
And not enough working on the issues that matter.
To do a decent job of picking a bracket, you've got to watch more than last weekend's games. You could just pick teams that were good in the past or teams you like, but to do well you need to have a feel for who's hot now, who's got injuries and who matches up poorly against lower seeds they face.
Republican voters can spend time with the issues.
Why must President Obama play around with the sports flotsam?

Obama watches; will he learn?

A few hours before the NCAA men's tournament bracket is announced, you know President Obama is watching some basketball.
  • Florida State upset top-seed North Carolina.
  • Vanderbilt beat top-ranked Kentucky.
Just because you're flying high doesn't you'll keep on winning.
Challenger come up with the right strategy to knock you off.
Happens on the court in March, and will happen in the election in November.

Don't let parrots drive

Democratic congressional candidate Alan Grayson had an accident Saturday - his car ran a red light and hit a bus.

Turn the boat around, and slow the car down.

Who spent your retirement?

Via Instapundit, an interesting article for Baby Boomers planning to live to 80 (or retire before then).
Who's going to pay for your retirement? Because the money's gone and no one young can afford to buy what you need to sell.
It may be unfortunate that this upcoming generation was unavoidably destined to take on debt, and that it was only a question of whether the student loan industry or the mortgage industry yoked them in first. But it appears that student loans won the race to reach their prey, which is bad news for Boomers seeking to sell their homes in 2015-20.

College - the new Surf City

Instapundit highlights the Richmond Times Dispatch article about college - producing three female graduates for every two males.
That's not too far from two girls for every boy.

Big thoughts

Thanks to his president at the University of Rochester, I learned about economist Steve Landsburg and his thoughts on Rush and Sandra Fluke.
Much better than "conceptive sponges" are his thoughts at the original decision to shift the insurance burden for contraception.
When an ideologically diverse roomful of economists, upon hearing the announcement of a new presidential policy, bursts into unanimous laughter, you can be pretty sure the president is trying to pull a fast one.
Think I'll be visiting his blog again.

One Voice

The sitemeter stats don't lie - one of my most visited posts the last month was last May's picture of Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert.
Time for an encore, since she appeared on The Voice recently.

Next week at Media Matters

Rush Limbaugh still survives after a week of blasting by Media Matters.
They write about all the terrible things they think Rush has said over the years.
Friday, he starts "Open Line Friday" by explaining the concept to all the new listeners.
Rush goes on.
What attacks will Media Matters try next?
  • Worst Snapple flavors Rush endorsed 20 years ago
  • Bad things Rush said about NFL players
  • What's his carbon footprint?
  • Insults of Obama they trace to Rush
  • Worst Paul Shanklin parody songs
The barrel's getting empty quickly.
Rush still has plenty of money and plenty to talk about.

More good from Rush

Coming soon, a Friday afternoon Rush broadcast will include a telethon for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Last year, he and his listeners brought in over $3 million over the Friday show and weekend.
So a heartfelt and sincere thanks once again to everybody who has made this yet another record-breaking year for our Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Radio Cure-A-Thon.
If Rush fails to raise $3 million this year, will Media Matters contribute? How about Sandra Fluke?
Will she and her friends give to help others, or just try to grab more for the government?

"Contraceptive sponges"

A great description of those demanding everyone else pay for their needs - contraceptive sponges.
Instapundit and Althouse have info on the academic battle.
UPDATE: Linked by Troglopundit and his contribution at Right Wing News.

Don't tell the media we said this

Watching the news, you see Democrats have demands to allow a budget in Virginia.
Reading to the bottom of the news story, you see a priceless line.
"This issue will not be resolved in the media or on the airwaves," concluded the three-page letter that the Senate Democratic Caucus e-mailed to reporters Wednesday, the same day it was sent to McDonnell.
Emailing your demands puts it more in the airwaves, not less.
More spending seems to be all Democrats want.

Let's go, Joe

Does "Joe the Plumber" have a chance to win a Congressional seat?
He has a better chance than Dennis Kucinich.

Rush's best ads

When I first listened to Rush Limbaugh in West Virginia, the local station hadn't sold all its ad time. So you got to hear parody ads like this one.
Gotta love those Barnacle Brothers.

Low Carb diet

Carbonite's ticker symbol is CARB.
Tuesday was another day of a low Carb diet.

Baltimore's best

While Media Matters lists the "legion of chickens" in New York, Baltimore's station that carries Rush reports no local advertisers dropping out.
Bob Pettit, the station's general manager, said a few advertisers have postponed their buys. That's about it.
"We have had a number of calls and emails from a group of liberal activists in their attempt to silence the voice of conservative radio," he said. "Most of these people never listen to WCBM or Rush and it is clear to our Rush sponsors that they don’t represent the WCBM listener or their customers."Have you checked Media Matters' blacklist?
They list advertisers on WABC in New York, whether they advertise on Rush's show, between news breaks or just happen to be slotted during the show.
You'd think a national organization like Media Matters could have someone listening in Washington, and compare which ads are Rush's and which are the individual station's.
But then the number wouldn't seem that big.
Time to support the advertisers standing strong, and laugh at the "legion of chickens" that Media Matters generously lists.

Rush's ad example

In all the fuss about advertisers dropping Rush Limbaugh, how about remembering the 2003 Masters?
The year the broadcast had no commercials, to spare its longtime advertisers trouble from the controversy about admitting women to Augusta National.
What happened after the year with no ads?
The regulars returned, and will be there again in April.
There will be advertisers waiting to make money by putting their spots on Rush - very shortly.

Rally for Rush

Don Surber has several quotes from Rush's show Monday.
Dan Riehl highlights the Rally for Rush site.
Time to order some of Rush's tea and have a party.

Blame Clayton

What was only supposed to be a dusting of snow turned into major trouble Monday in Charlottesville.
When the weather is unexpected, you blame the weather man.
Especially one who loves snow - Clayton Stiver.
But you can't complain to him today, unless you're on the ski slopes.

New from A&E

The show "Storage Wars" has become so popular that A&E has decided to create a reality show about Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
"Porridge Wars"
A bad joke?
YUUUUUUP.

Outlier? Super Outlier

Blue Virginia has the latest NBC news poll.
It shows big leads for President Obama and Tim Kaine.
Why?
It polled 36 percent Democrats and 24 percent Republicans.
Trash.
Crap.
In what world are there three Democrats for every two Republicans?
Try polling 38 percent Republicans (like polls from 2009) and then get back with us.
The pollster needs to hang his head in shame for putting out this garbage.

Something old, something new

Doug Ross combines the 1930s with Obama's current policies.

Instapundit caucus poll

Instapundit received a series of emails from recent Republican caucus goers.
Reading them is a good way to start the day.

Spring fling

The signs of spring coming soon are everywhere
  • Flower popping out of the ground
  • Days getting longer
  • Willy's Ice Cream in Waynesboro opening.
Global warming can be a good thing.

Facebook quote of the week

Crappy week at work... crappy weather... wonder why I feel so crappy????

Romney - can't buy me love

Mitt Romney seems to have the Republican momentum going into Super Tuesday - after filling the airwaves with 65 times more ads than Newt Gingrich in Florida and going five-to-one over Rick Santorum in Michigan.
But his money hasn't bought him love yet.
It has inspired this parody, though.

Can't buy me love, love
Can't buy me love

I'll buy the primaries my friend
You can watch my ads all night
I'll tell you anything my friend
I can count on your vote, right?

Cause I don't mind to spend the money
But money can't buy me love.

I'll tell you what you want to hear
If you say you'll vote for me
You may despise Romneycare
but right now, who else you got?

I don't mind to spend the money
Will money please buy me love?

Please buy me love
Isn't it my turn now?
Please buy me love
Please, please, please, please

Say you don't care about my past
And I'll be satisfied
Tell that you want my hair and smile
I'm the Olympics guy

I don't mind to spend the money
But money can't buy me love

Can't buy me love
Why won't my foes just go?
Can't buy me love
Please, please, please, please

Say you don't care about my past
And I'll be satisfied
Tell that you want my hair and smile
I'm the Olympics guy

I don't mind to spend the money
Will money please buy me love
Buy me love, love
Please buy me love, oh

Here they are, in brilliant black and white

Welfare Condom Queen

Via Instapundit, an interesting view from another female student at Georgetown.
Let’s talk priorities here. It costs over $23,000 for a year at Georgetown Law. Sandra, are you telling us that you can afford that but cannot afford your own contraception? Really? Math was never my strong suit, but something about Sandra’s accounting just doesn’t seem right.

Older slut talk

Enough of this slut talk. Time for a clip that's older than the women who testified at Congress.
And can't find a Target or Wal-Mart in her area.

Not warm there

Sure, it's been warmer than normal in Augusta County this year - no snow days.
But check the Arctic Ocean - the most iced area in seven years.
An amount close to the 30-year average.
Our warm weather isn't a trend, anymore than other spots of warm weather.
Put that in an email.

Protest? It's spring break

The UVa students protesting for a Living Wage called off their hunger strike Thursday.
Spring break starts Friday.
Coincidence?
A big 13 days of media coverage, and no food for five - out of thousands of students on campus.
Why stop now?
Spring break is a time with no classes or deadlines.
A great time to gather with your fellow protesters and fight for what you believe.
Unless you believe you want out of town whenever you can.
Protest?
More like posturing.

Betty and the Lorax

Why can't a Dr. Seuss movie be rated G?
The Lorax has a very words to give it a PG rating, but it also has Betty White.

Vote for me, crazy people

Does Andy Schmookler have a chance of becoming my Congressman?
Slim to none, and slim just left town.
Especially with commentaries like this.
The Sixth District is the most conservative part of Virginia. The area where Jim Gilmore ran best in 2008.
You don't persuade those voters with words like this
The Limbaugh-Bush-Rove-Cheney version of the Republican Party was not crazy, but it was morally corrupt. It was willing to use lies to move their followers into a non-existent world where they'd be easier to manipulate. It consistently used those lies to appeal to the worst in their followers, to their fears and hatreds.
In other words, that non-loony but amoral Republican Party deliberately drove their followers crazy.
Crazy is a person thinking that kind of talk gives him any chance to win an election.
Earn the praise of fellow liberals, perhaps.
Not much else.

Pick up the fallen flag

Interesting note at Legal Insurrection.
I only spoke once with Andrew Breitbart. He reached out to me, and we spoke by phone.  The topic is not important, but I was shocked that he even knew who I was; but as I’ve come to learn, Andrew seemed to know who everyone was in the conservative blogosphere.  He was just that way.
Impressive.

Wisdom from Hillary

What Hillary Clinton said in 2003 is true now.
"We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration."
Or what she said now is true, since she's gotten smarter.
Doubt that.
