Best of the year - NASCAR

Sports has always been a big part of the blog.
In checking the stats in late December, this post about NASCAR returning Darlington to the Labor Day weekend slot remains popular.
Boogity, boogity, boogity, let's go racing boys.

Best of the year - Republicans in West Virginia

Back in 1987, I moved to West Virginia.
My area of the state was represented by Nick Joe Rahall then, and he continues to serve in the House today.
But he won't be serving next week.
The Republican candidate overcame anti-Koch ads to win in November.
Good news for southern West Virginia.

Best of the year - snow

2014 had some snow - but it seemed to wait until March to strike.
Thanks to the tight gradient.

Best of the Year - Ten Buck Fridays

I joined a few bloggers through the fall, highlighting Republican Senate candidates each week on Ten Buck Friday.
It was a nice night the first Tuesday in November, with most of our candidates posting wins.
Washington will be a much better place in January.

Best of the year - we're still here

We made it past the end of the Mayan calendar.
Troglopundit liked my reason for the world to continue.

Best of the year - Romney rally

Even though Mitt Romney didn't win, his Fishersville rally in October had the feel of victory.
At least Trace Atkins sounded good.

Best of the year - third Instapundit link

I like "riding the wave."
I wish Mitt Romney rode the wave into the White House.
I did ride the wave to an Instapundit link in April, the second of the month.

Best of the year - second Instapundit link

As April dawned, Instapundit noted how the Obama team tried to get reporters to cover stories.
My response got a link.

Best of the year - first Instapundit link

It was fine logging onto the computer the morning of  March 22.
Instapundit had linked this post on Eric Cantor's endorsement in a Republican primary in Illinois.
It was atop his blog for seven hours, starting just before midnight.
That brings in the traffic - most in the history of the blog.

Best of the year - Smitty's back

2011 brought forth the "World's Youngest Blogger." Proud papa Smitty posted pictures from his deployment in Afghanistan, and upon his return to the States.
A few weeks ago, a link to my blog post magically appeared on a post at The Other McCain.
Good to see Smitty enjoying American bandwidth.

Best of the year - Instalanche

Two weeks before I appeared on Da Tech Guy's radio show, Instapundit was the featured guest. And he featured links to promote the show - which was in its first three months.
It reminded me of the old Tonight show, when Johnny Carson would bring promising comedians on toward the end of the show. If they did a good set, Johnny would invite them to the couch for a minute.
For many, it helped take their careers on the next level.
That idea became my fourth Instalanche of my career.

Best of the year - DaTech Guy radio

Since I began reading his blog during the Scott Brown campaign, I've enjoyed visiting DaTech Guy's site. When he started his radio show, I sent an email suggesting he talk about his 2010 journey - from a guy with a fedora to the blogosphere's guy with a fedora.
He sent a return email asking if I'd like to appear on his show.
I appeared on the Jan. 29 show, along with two Massachusetts bloggers, and we talked politics for the hour.
DaTech Guy moved to a two-hour show the next week, and continues to provide a platform for bloggers from across the country to talk about the issues of the day.
