President Obama heads to Martha's Vineyard Sunday, probably a few hours after Hurricane Bill is supposed to pass east of the island.
You won't have to watch for hurricane warnings in the future when President Sarah Palin goes on vacation. No hurricanes in Alaska in August.
Maybe blizzards and cold temperatures, but not too much more than Chicago.

Andrea Mitchell in Alaska
Watching Andrea Mitchell report from Wasilla, I wondered, "Why didn't Sarah Palin announce her change of plans before a blizzard?" Hope Andrea enjoyed spending her holiday heading to the 49th state.
What's the old saying - "Those who talk don't know and those who know aren't talking."
They need to watch some KFC commercials and UNthink.

Sarah, here to stay
The blogosphere is buzzing over the Sarah Palin piece in Vanity Fair.
Whether Sarah Palin runs for president or becomes president, I expect she'll remain a political force for the next 25 years. The people who love her see themselves in her. Attacks on Palin are attacks on them and their lifestyle.
Sort of like how many African-Americans see themselves in Barack Obama. Obama rode that wave to the White House, and that helps keep his popularity higher than the popularity of his proposals.
And unnamed McCain staffers who continue to cut Palin down need to realize their political future is worse off than hers. Give it up.
I'm rooting for Palin to become president. Just because I want to see TV reporters shivering outside the Wasilla White House at vacation time.

Break out the crying towels
The Washington Post reports on how hard it is for the press corps to do its work in Hawaii. Don't you feel sad for them?

I want to see
The NBC nightly news opened with a reporter in Hawaii following President-elect Obama - with Diamondhead and the beach in the background.
Man, I really want Sarah Palin to become president. Then the TV newsers will be standing in the cold near the "Wasilla White House."

Why the media like Obama
The easiest answer - where he'll vacation. The media follow the president everywhere, even on vacation. George W. Bush liked spending a lot of time at his ranch in West Texas. Barack Obama lives in Chicago and will likely vacation in Hawaii.
Who would you rather hangout with? Especially when your boss picks up the tab for the trip.
Makes you look forward to the Wasilla White House.
