I enjoy listening to Glenn Beck, although I wonder how much those shiny rocks (gold) and survival seed banks will do if something goes really wrong.

Beck's popularity is not something to be mocked, but shows where many people are right now. And it will not be ignored.

One powerful paragraph
Just checked Glenn Beck's website and found this statement about Van Jones.
The American people stood up and demanded answers. Instead of providing them, the Administration had Jones resign under cover of darkness. I continue to be amazed by the power of everyday Americans to initiate change in our government through honest questioning, and judging by the other radicals in the administration, I expect that questioning to continue for the foreseeable future.

Taking a cue from Olbermann
Glenn Beck had a funny bit on his radio show Wednesday about Keith Olbermann.
Olbermann was talking ratings, and saying he had the highest rated cable news talk show not on Fox News Channel. Now, Beck has more viewers at 5 p.m. than Olbermann has at 8 p.m. O'Reilly, Hannity and Fox Ficus Review also have more viewers. (Well, Fox doesn't really have a Ficus Review, but I'd bet a flower/gardening show on Fox would grab more viewers than Olbermann).
In his honor, I'm celebrating the fact I'm the highest ranked male blogger on blognetnews.com/virginia this week. Sure, I'm behind SWACgirl, but she's female (for those of you scoring at home, or even if you're alone).

Abortion kills health care reform
Glenn Beck started Thursday's show by seeking pro-choice callers to explain their views. He tried not to argue; he wanted to understand.
A caller in the first half-hour mentioned the decision should be between the doctor and the woman. Thus, the government should not dictate.
Now, let's add the health care reform plans to our thought processes. We need to save money, so let's get the government involved. Will the decision be between a patient and doctor?

Flat Glenn in Boston
Heard this on the radio today and had to check it out. Glenn Beck's insiders have a drawing of him called "Flat Glenn" that members had taken around the world. And a few weeks ago, flat Glenn ran in the Boston Marathon to raise money for cancer research.

Why pick on Beck?
When Glenn Beck began his Headline News show two years ago, he asked his audience when the show would be cancelled. I picked Jan. 20, 2009, figuring President Hillary wouldn't like him on the air.
When President Obama was inaugurated, he wasn't on Headline News anymore. It was his second day on Fox.
Now his show is growing in popularity, he's out in front with the Tea Party movement and concerns about our crushing debt. So he's become the poster boy for what's supposedly wrong with the Right.
Listening to Beck's worries can be sobering and depressing. I like listening, but there's times I've got to turn it off. Talking about the worst of the "what if" scenarios may look like a trip to the political wilderness, but at the rate we're going there may be only wilderness left.
There's a hunger for what Beck is talking about on the right, just like there was talk against the Iraq War on the left back in 2002. I don't think he want to be a leader of the unhappy, but he's showing the potential leaders where a huge group is hanging out.

Way to go, Glenn
Glenn Beck will be number one on the New York Times best seller list for his new book, "Christmas Sweater." He's gloating today over being ahead of Stephen King's new book. Enjoy yourself, Glenn.
