Weekend watchdog

The third week of the NFL preseason means the starters see their most on-field action of August.
It also brings out the NFL broadcasters to warm up for September.
The third week continues Friday at 8 p.m. on CBS with Lions taking on the Buccaneers. The Saints visit the Chargers Saturday at 8 p.m.
The Bengals and Bills battle on Fox Sunday at 4 p.m., with the NBC team of Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth warming up their Sunday night slot with the Cardinals taking on the Cowboys.
Local coverage of the Redskins continues on NBC Sports Washington, with the Broncos visiting Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The college football season starts Saturday with a FCS contest between Jacksonville State and North Carolina A&T at 7 p.m. on ESPN. Wyoming takes on New Mexico State at 10 p.m. on ESPN2.
The Yankees visit the Orioles for a four-game set, with games on MASN Friday before a day-night doubleheader Saturday at 1 and 7 p.m. ESPN has coverage Sunday at 8 p.m.
The Nationals take on the Mets Friday and Saturday on MASN2 and Sunday afternoon on MASN. Saturday's game will also be on FoxSports1.
FoxSports1 brings the Braves against the Marlins Saturday at 7 p.m., and the Rays meet the Red Sox on TBS Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Little League World Series crowns its champion Sunday at 3 p.m. on ABC. The third place game is on ESPN Sunday at 10 a.m. The United States final will match Hawaii and Georgia Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on ABC, after the International final at 12:30 p.m.
The PGA tour playoffs begin with the Northern Trust Open. CBS has coverage Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
Orlando City faces Atlanta United in MLS play Friday at 8 p.m. on ESPN, followed by the Galaxy against Los Angeles FC.
D.C. United meets the Red Bulls on FoxSports1 Sunday at 7 p.m. before Portland plays the Sounders.
The Wolverhampton Wonders tangle with Manchester City Saturday at 7:25 a.m. on NBC Sports network, followed by Arsenal-West Ham United.
Liverpool takes on Brighton Saturday at 12:30 p.m. on NBC.
It's Watford against Crystal Palace Sunday 8:30 a.m. and Newcastle United clashes with Chelsea at 10:55 a.m. on NBC Sports network.
Bayern Munich battles Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga Friday at 2:30 p.m. on FoxSports1. Wolfsburg faces Schalke Saturday at 9 a.m. before Borussia meets Leverkusen at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at 9:30 a.m. it's Mainz against Stuttgart and Dortmund takes on Leipzig on Fox at noon.
NBC Sports network has the Xfinity Series from Road America Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The Truck Series goes on FoxSports1 Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
The IndyCar series visits Illinois Saturday at 8:30 p.m. on NBC Sports network. There's qualifying Friday at 5 p.m.
ESPN2 brings the Belgian Grand Prix Sunday at 9:05 a.m. after qualifying Saturday at 8:55 a.m.
With the U.S. Open beginning Monday, the final Open series events conclude this weekend. The championship of the Connecticut Open will be Saturday at 3 p.m. on ESPN2, with the Winston-Salem Open final at 5 p.m. ESPN2 has the semifinals from Connecticut Friday at 3 and 7 p.m., with a semifinal at Winston-Salem at 9 p.m.
There's high school football on ESPN Saturday at noon as Pinson Valley tangles with Hoover at noon followed by Cedar Grove against Hewitt-Trussville The action moves to ESPN2 at 7 p.m. with Dematha facing St. Thomas Aquinas of Florida. ESPN offers Phillips of Illinois against Pickerington Central of Ohio Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
The WNBA playoffs continue with semifinals starting Sunday at 3 and 5 p.m. on ESPN2.
