Weekend watchdog

The Virginia Cavaliers haven't reached the NCAA Final Four since 1984.
As the top overall seed, this year might finally be their time.
Virginia opens the first round of the tournament Friday at 9:20 p.m. against Maryland-Baltimore County on TNT. A likely win moves the Cavaliers into the second round Sunday in Charlotte.
The first round continues Friday as Providence takes on Texas A&M at noon on CBS, while TruTV brings Purdue-Cal State Fullerton at 12:30 p.m. Marshall meets Wichita State on TNT at 1:30 p.m., with Georgia State's clash with Cincinnati starting the day on TBS.
CBS has four games in the second round Saturday, starting at noon. TNT joins the party with a pair of games starting at 6 p.m., with TBS coverage at 7 p.m.
There's three more games on CBS Sunday at noon, with TNT having two games at 6 p.m. and TBS two more at 7 p.m. TruTV carries a contest at 7:30 p.m.
Then we'll be down to the Sweet 16.
The women's tournament gets going this weekend, with games tipping off Friday at noon on ESPN2. The next batch plays at 2:30 p.m., with Virginia taking on California at 5 p.m. The night closes with games at 7:30 p.m.
Action continues Saturday at 11 a.m. on ESPN2, with other contests starting at 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. It's on to the second round on ESPN Sunday at 5 and 7 p.m., and ESPN2 at noon, 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The NIT continues with second round games on ESPN Saturday at noon as Notre Dame takes on Penn State. Baylor battles Mississippi State Sunday at noon, and it's Marquette-Oregon Sunday at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
The Wizards host the Pacers Saturday at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington.
NASCAR visits California this weekend, with the Monster Series Sunday at 3:30 p.m. on Fox. The Xfinity Series goes Saturday at 5 p.m. on FoxSports1.
MASN has the Nationals' preseason contest with the Cardinals Friday at 1 p.m.
It's the Arnold Palmer Invitational from Orlando on NBC Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Capitals take on the Islanders Friday at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington, and meet the Flyers Sunday at 5 p.m.
NBC Sports network has Blues-Blackhawks Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
ESPN offers the NCAA wrestling championship Saturday at 8 p.m. on ESPN2. The semifinals are Friday at 8 p.m. on ESPN
The Paralympics continue on NBC Sports network and sled hockey highlights the action Friday at 7 p.m. There's cross-country skiing Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
FoxSports1 brings the FA Cup Saturday at 8 a.m. with Swansea City tangling with Tottenham. Manchester City meets Brighton Sunday at 6 a.m.
Huddersfield Town clashes with Crystal Palace on NBC Sports network Saturday at 10:55 a.m. followed by Liverpool-Watford.
In the Bundesliga, Dortmund takes on Hannover Sunday at 9:30 a.m. on FoxSports1.
ESPN has the men's and women's championships at the Paribas Open Sunday at 2 p.m. There's men's quarterfinals at 3 p.m. and women's semifinals Friday at 10 p.m. ESPN has the men's semifinal Saturday at 2 p.m. and women's semifinal at 10 p.m.
