Weekend watchdog

The NBA opens its season in the midst of baseball playoffs, NFL football and college football.
What can bring attention to opening week?

While most eyes are on college football Saturday, ESPN shows the Lakers' home opener against Houston at 10:30 p.m.
ESPN has a doubleheader Friday with Celtics-Raptors at 8 p.m. followed by the Warriors facing the Jazz. The Wizards face the Raptors Saturday at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington.
Baseball's postseason continues Friday when the National League returns to Milwaukee for Game 6 Friday at 8:30 p.m. on FoxSports1. Game 7, if necessary, will be Saturday at 9 p.m.
The Red Sox await the winner, with the World Series starting Tuesday at Fenway Park.
London games continue Sunday, with the Titans taking on the Chargers at 9:30 a.m. on CBS. The Patriots face the Bears at 1 p.m., with Redskins-Cowboys in the late afternoon slot. Fox carries the Panthers' contest with the Eagles at 1 p.m.
Hot starts by the Bengals and Chiefs moved their contest to Sunday night on NBC, with Giants-Falcons on ESPN Monday at 8:15 p.m.
The college football weekend continues Friday as Boise State battles Colorado State at 9 p.m. on ESPN2.
TCU takes on Oklahoma on ABC Saturday at noon, then it's Penn State-Indiana at 3:30 p.m. In primetime, Purdue hosts Ohio State.
Michigan meets Michigan State on Fox Saturday at noon before Colorado clashes with Washington. Oregon visits Washington State at 7:30 p.m.
Top-ranked Alabama takes on Tennessee on CBS at 3:30 p.m.
ESPN starts its day at noon with Auburn-Mississippi, followed by Clemson's contest with North Carolina State. LSU meets Mississippi State at 7 p.m.
Iowa faces Maryland on ESPN2 at noon and Wake Forest takes on Florida State at 3:30 p.m. It's East Carolina against Central Florida at 7 p.m., with Arizona-UCLA in the nightcap.
FoxSports1 has Wisconsin against Illinois at noon, then Kansas tangles with Texas Tech.
Virginia visits Duke on NBC Sports Washington at 12:30 p.m.
Bucknell battles Lafayette at noon on MASN.
NASCAR's second segment of the playoffs closes this weekend in Kansas, with the Monster Series going on NBC Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The green flag drops on the Xfinity Series Saturday at 2:55 p.m.
The Capitals host the Panthers Friday at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington.
NBC Sports network has the Wild against the Stars Friday at 8 p.m.
Chelsea clashes with Manchester United Saturday at 7:25 a.m. on NBC Sports network before West Ham United faces Tottenham Hotspur. Everton battles Crystal Palace Sunday at 10:55 a.m.
In MLS action, Atlanta United takes on Chicago at 3 p.m. on ESPN followed by Minnesota against the Galaxy.
Wolfsburg takes on Bayern Munich Saturday at 9:30 a.m. on FoxSports1 and Hertha Berlin battles Freiburg Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
Frosinone faces Empoli in Italian Serie A Sunday at 6:25 a.m. on ESPN2.
In women's soccer, Virginia hosts Florida State Sunday at 1 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington.
NBC Sports network has Skate America Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.
Stanford meets Oregon in women's volleyball Sunday at 2 p.m. on ESPN2.
