Virginia Democrats think they are the 38th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, meeting the 3/4 of states needed to have the amendment make the Constitution.
Except the amendment originally had a seven-year time frame to ratify - which expired when I was in high school.
There was an extension until 1982 - which expired when I was in college.
And five of the 38 states have voted to pull their ratification.
Can ratification only go one way?
The courts get to continue to deal with this issue.
If you'd like the amendment in the Constitution, a new decade is a great time to start.
Virginia is one, work on the other 37.
