For many years, I'd read the blogger Dustbury. And sometimes he'd mention me.
He passed away in 2019, but he'd be happy to see the Oklahoma City Thunder as top seed in the NBA Western Conference.
A team to root for.

Farewell to Kobe
Since the news broke around 3 p.m., the airwaves have been filled with memories of Kobe Bryant.
It reminded me to check Dustbury, who chronicled the NBA before he passed in September.
Sure enough, the search engine found Kobe's final road contest in 2016 was in Oklahoma City.
It was the last home game of the season, which was one event: it was Kobe Bryant’s last-ever road game, which was another. The combination of the two was a bit baffling at times, but the desired results were obtained: Kobe knocked down 13 points in the first quarter, in Kobe-like fashion, and the Thunder, after a 10-point lead at halftime, went on to trounce the Lakers 31-13 in the third quarter on the way to a 112-79 blowout. And there was lots of purple and gold in the house, an appreciation for a man who almost always played like he had his eye on the Hall of Fame.

Sad day in the blogosphere
Visiting Dustbury this weekend, there was nothing posted since Tuesday.
Not good.
He posts multiple times a day, and has since 1996.
Today comes the news that Charles Hill passed after being involved in a car accident that day.
From his perch in Oklahoma City, he was a true internet star.
He supported this blog from almost the beginning and I've visited his place numerous times.
And it picked up items from me, making the posting of items more enjoyable.
A favorite?
When my dad found his manual for Office 97 in 2014, I knew Dustbury would like it.
And he did.
Rest in peace, friend.
UPDATE: Thoughts from Roger O. Green and Fillyjonk.

All in favor say "Rib-eye"
Dustbury now has a steak in the upcoming Oklahoma legislative session.
Thanks to a bill to designate Ribeye Steak as the state steak.
Our government at work.

Dying to save some money
Dustbury looks at the cost of saving $400 by going the cremation way.
Cremation destroys the potential we have to give back to the earth after we’ve died. It uses an energy-intensive process to turn bodies into ash, polluting the air and contributing to climate change. All told, cremations in the US emit a staggering 600 million pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere annually. The truly awful truth is that the very last thing that most of us will do on this earth is poison it.

Flipping out
Dustbury notes the news that Vanna White has turned 60 - including an interesting parody from back in the day when winners picked merchandise with the money they'd won.

Better pay on time
Dustbury finds a possible new credit card - with a catch.
As I understand the Terms and Conditions, the M.M.M.C. offers a 20-day grace period beginning on your statement date, after which you get a less-than-friendly visit from Wolverine.

And the Thunder rolls
I switched over to TNT Sunday night, wanting to see how close the contest would be.
It was halftime.
Oklahoma City was up by 25.
Dustbury has the big hits.

Thunderous upset
The NBA playoff games that start at 9 p.m. last past bedtime.
Who won Monday?
Check Dustbury.
Oklahoma City 108, Golden State 102.
Game 2 is day after tomorrow in Oakland. Cardiac patients should probably take precautions.

Hillary on line one
Dustbury has the story of the man who deleted his company with one line of code.
Wonder if Hillary saw the story.
Wonder if she asked if her people working on her server heard about it.

20 years of gibberish
Dustbury marks 20 years of Authenic Frontier Gibberish.
Will there be maybe more years for him?
I never figured this place would last this long. Then again, I never really figured I would last this long, and we know how well that worked out.

TV stations hate him
Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free?
Donald Trump isn't buying TV ads in Super Tuesday states prior to the big day.
Doesn't need to.
He's got all the coverage he needs, and has since June.
New Hampshire TV stations got rich from Jeb Bush and his SuperPac friends.
No such luck for TV stations in Super Tuesday land.

Badgers, we don't need no stinkin' Badgers
Wisconsin has issued a 29-point list of actions that should not be done at scholastic events.
Some are good - stand at attention for the national anthem.
Some, questionable.
Sorry, but fans have to boo whoever decided to use two pages to detail this.

Candy Man. Hey, Candy Man
For those who waited until the last minute, Dustbury has some advice for buying Halloween candy.
My candy-acquisition rule for Halloween is simple enough: get stuff I’ve heard of. Worst-case scenario: if the goblins peter out early, at least I’ll have something familiar to nosh on. (There’s a secondary rule, which says basically “Finish the year’s bloodwork before Halloween”; I trust this needs no explanation.)

Thunder games
The NBA season has begun.
I don't have a favorite team, but it's enjoyable to catch Dustbury's highlights of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
