Jules Crittenden highlights a story with weird timing in Massachusetts.
Several Garden Clubs received a letter from the state last week, seeking financial documentation of their work over the last four years - by Feb. 4.
It came from the office of Attorney General Martha Coakley, who is running for the Senate. The state just wants to make sure charities are spending their money as they say.
It's not a crackdown on little old ladies who help beautify the state, but it sure feels like it.
Sure feels like another area where the state doesn't trust people who've been behaving lawfully all of their lives.
"We don't trust you, but vote for me" doesn't seem the way to win votes next Tuesday.
