Weekend watchdog

The NFL opened its 100th season Thursday with a rivalry that dates back to 1921.
The rest of the 32 teams open this weekend and Monday.
The defending Super Bowl champion had been hosting the season opener in recent years, but the NFL saves the Patriots' game with the Steelers for Sunday night on NBC.
ESPN has a pair of contests for the first Monday night of the season. The Texans take on the Saints at 7:10 p.m. followed by Broncos-Raiders.
The Ravens meet the Dolphins on CBS Sunday at 1 p.m.
Fox offers the Redskins-Eagles at 1 p.m. before the Giants tangle with the Cowboys in the late afternoon slot.
Virginia starts the college football weekend Friday, facing William & Mary at 7:30 p.m. on the ACC network. Marshall meets Boise State on ESPN2 at 9 p.m.
The College GameDay crew will be in Austin for LSU-Texas, with coverage on ABC at 7:30 p.m. Cincinnati clashes with Ohio State at noon followed by Clemson-Texas A&M at 3:30 p.m.
Michigan meets Army on Fox at noon and it's Colorado-Nebraska at 3:30 p.m. In primetime, Penn State hosts Buffalo.
Iowa hosts Big Ten foe Rutgers at noon on FoxSports1. Action heads out west at 10:30 p.m. for the Pac-12 contest between Washington and California.
Pittsburgh hosts Ohio on the ACC network at 11 a.m., followed by South Florida-Georgia Tech at 2 p.m. Florida State faces Louisiana-Monroe at 5 p.m. and there's a conference tilt between Miami and North Carolina at 8 p.m.
Tennessee takes on BYU on ESPN at 7 p.m. and Stanford travels to Southern Cal at 10:30 p.m.
It's West Virginia-Missouri at noon on ESPN2. Georgia battles Murray State at 4 p.m. before Auburn tangles with Tulane at 7:30 p.m
MASN offers Bowling Green-Kansas State at noon.
North Carolina State takes on Western Carolina on NBC Sports Washington at 12:30 p.m. and James Madison has its' home opener against St. Francis at 6 p.m.
The Orioles, who had a schedule change thanks to Hurricane Dorian, watch the skies for the storm's remnants this weekend as the Rangers come to town on MASN2. The Nationals visit the Braves on MASN.
The Red Sox host the Yankees Saturday at 4:05 p.m. on FoxSports1 and Sunday at 8 p.m. on ESPN. It's Phillies-Mets on FoxSports1 Saturday at 7:10 p.m. and on TBS Sunday at 1:10 p.m.
ESPN has the men's finals of the U.S. Open Sunday at 4 p.m., after the women's doubles championship at 1 p.m. The men will battle for the final Friday at 4 p.m.
NASCAR gets ready for the playoffs with the race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend. The Monster Series goes Sunday at 4 p.m. on NBC, after the Xfinity Series race Saturday at 3 p.m. on NBC Sports network.
It's the Italian Grand Prix on ESPN2 Sunday at 9:05 a.m.
The United States national team plays Mexico Friday at 9 p.m. on FoxSports1.
Germany clashes with the Netherlands Friday at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN in a European qualifier.
The Mystics meet Dallas in WNBA action Friday at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington. The Lynx face the Sparks on ESPN2 Sunday at 4 p.m.
NBC Sports network has the Premier League lacrosse playoffs Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m.
