Oucho stinko

The NFL did not cover itself in glory in week 17. The Bengals are stinking out the joint against the Jets, a team they will likely play next weekend.
The Saints have lost three straight and the Colts two straight. And those are your top-seeds in each conference. The Cardinals also lost big to a team they'll play next week.
What can be done to keep playoff-bound teams from mailing in the finale? How about 0 percent tax on the game's earnings if they win, and 90 percent tax if they lose the finale?
Regular season records don't seem to motivate.

As an avid Colt's fan since the early 60's, these last two games were hard to watch. But when I saw Wes Welker go down with a torn ACL, the image of Peyton Manning being replaced by Painter in the playoff's got me over my anger at Poulian for letting the team rust.

My idea (which teams continue to ignore) is to allow the starters to play the first series and the 4th quarter. At least make it interesting.

A lot of Colt's fans are really steamed at paying $275 or more to attend the last home regular season game and be subjected to the amateur hour by some of the most unprepared replacements since the strike.

All will be forgiven if the Colts win in 2 weeks. But if they come out (as in years past) and look to be in pre-season form again, the rest vs rust argument will not go away.
