Through Facebook, I connected with a friend from my college newspaper. He wrote a note about TV shows from the 70s, and mentioned the Gong Show.
That got me thinking, and I found this video of "Gene, Gene, the Dancing Machine." I think you can see young David Letterman in the celebrity area.

Young folks think they're so good a the dancing moves...they should check out Gene--now that's talent.
