NY 23 - helpful hints
Why's the Conservative party candidate trying to break into the special election in New York's 23rd House District? The Watertown Daily Times looked at the voter's guide by the AARP Tuesday. In all answers, the Democrat and Republican were the same.
The Conservative Party was founded for that very reason. On of their very first ads had the title "Tweedledum and Tweedledee" and two identical little egg figures representing the Democrat and Republican candidates. Dunno if I can find a copy, '64 was a long time ago.
But the point was made. The NY Republicans were losing consistently, and although they never took Row A back, they remain viable if their candidates were conservatve enough to get the Conservative Party endorsement. In essence, with the Row C endorsement, Republicans have a fair chance; without it they are toast.
