Obama's birther problem

Democrats seem to be really enjoying this birther issue. A little too much.
But a question must be raised for President Obama. How do you govern a country when a group of people doesn't believe you are who you say you are?
Whether the group is small, large or a substantial minority, it's a problem for Obama. Do you ignore birthers - and by extension Republicans opposing your policies - and push through the bills you want to become law? That's almost a positive feedback loop for birthers. "See, he's ignoring us and taking things over."
Do you listen to people who question your birth certificate, and thus give them positive feedback that way?
George W. Bush could never get ahead of the "Bush lied, people died" crowd, and you see where it got him. (Yes, Bush did good things. You're still alive, aren't you. The 2008 elections were held and Obama's in the White House.)
Instead of birthers being a trap for Republicans, it's likely a trap for both parties. Those who believe the president is who his Hawaii birth certificate says he is should work together to deal with this.

See, I think raising the birth issue and getting it all out in front is like a magician steering audience attention.
No one seems to be asking the tough questions about the school records yet.
Inoculation?
