Just a few more days until the Democratic gubernatorial primary. Who's it going to be? Will Terry McAuliffe hold onto his lead? Will Creigh Deeds pull off the amazing upset? Will Brian Moran finish third everywhere west of the Blue Ridge Mountains?
I endorsed McAuliffe back in April, because I think he'll be more fun and easier to beat than the other two. My thoughts even made it to DailyKos, and that post received a comment overnight.
Those who think "Global Crossing" is an example of hate or discredited Republican dirty tricks miss the point. McAuliffe is selling himself to Virginians as he's sold companies and investment opportunities through the years.
You've got to look at his failures as well as his successes, and determine the patterns and how they would play in Virginia. Investors know that high rewards can come from high risk plans. And high risk plans can also break you.
Politicians offer the high rewards and defer mention of the high risks. Which plan McAuliffe offers brings benefits to Virginia at the cost of some other state?
We mention how much money McAuliffe made from Global Crossing before it went under. Whatever his role, he got lots of money and lots of people lost theirs.
Having that on your resume isn't the best way to win in 2009.
