Weekend watchdog

The defending champion meets the first champion as the Major League Soccer season kicks off this weekend.
Atlanta United, winners of the MLS Cup in its second campaign, hosts D.C. United Sunday at 6 p.m. as part of the MLS opening weekend.
The league welcomes its 24th team when Cincinnati debuts in Seattle on FoxSports1 Saturday at 10 p.m.
The Galaxy face the Chicago Fire Saturday at 8 p.m. on FoxSports1 and ESPN2 has Los Angeles FC against Sporting KC Sunday at 8 p.m.
NASCAR finds out what happens in Vegas this weekend, with the Monster Series on Fox Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The Xfinity Series goes on FoxSports1 Saturday at 4 p.m. after the Truck Series rides Friday at 9 p.m.
Rhode Island faces Dayton on ESPN Friday at 7 p.m.
CBS kicks off Saturday with three contests, with Kansas-Oklahoma State at noon. Tennessee takes on Kentucky at 2 p.m and it's Miami against Duke at 4 p.m.
Michigan State meets Indiana on Fox Saturday at noon, then it's Butler-Villanova.
NBC29 and Raycom affiliates have Virginia-Pittsburgh Saturday at 2 p.m., after showing Syracuse against Wake Forest at noon.
ESPN's day starts at noon with LSU-Alabama. Ohio State plays Purdue at 2 p.m. before Central Florida meets Houston. It's North Carolina-Clemson at 6 p.m. and Gonzaga battling St. Mary's at 10 p.m.
Florida State faces North Carolina State on ESPN2 Saturday at noon and it's Iowa State-Texas at 2 p.m. and Texas Tech tangling with TCU at 4 p.m. Bradley battles Loyola-Chicago at 6 p.m., followed by Baylor-Kansas State and Arizona taking on Oregon at 10 p.m.
NBC Sports network has a pair of Atlantic 10 contests Saturday, with George Mason-St. Louis at 3 p.m. and LaSalle's contest with Saint Joseph's at 5 p.m.
Notre Dame battles Louisville on CBS Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and Michigan meets Maryland at 3:45 p.m.
St. John's faces DePaul Sunday at noon on FoxSports1 and Creighton clashes with Marquette at 3 p.m.
ESPN2 has Washington-Stanford at 4 p.m.
In women's hoops, Oklahoma State battles Baylor on MASN2 Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Virginia women visit Notre Dame Sunday at 12:30 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington.
ESPN2 brings a pair of games Sunday, with North Carolina against Duke at noon and South Carolina's contest with Mississippi State at 2 p.m.
The Trail Blazers tangle with Toronto on ESPN Friday at 8 p.m. and it's Bucks-Lakers in the nightcap.
The Wizards visit the Celtics on NBC Sports Washington Friday at 8 p.m. and host the Timberwolves Sunday at 6 p.m.
The 76ers host the Warriors Saturday at 8:30 p.m. on ABC and Rockets take on the Celtics Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
The Capitals visit the Islanders Friday at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington-plus and face the Rangers on NBC Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
NBC Sports network brings the Predators' contest with the Wild Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
The Blackhawks face the Kings on NBC Sports Washington Saturday at 4 p.m. and take on the Sharks Sunday at 10 p.m
On the college ice, Notre Dame hosts Penn State Friday at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports network and NBC Sports Washington has Saturday's contest at 7 p.m.
In exhibition baseball, the Orioles face the Tigers Sunday at 3 p.m. on MASN.
ABC has coverage of the NFL Combine Saturday at 1 p.m.
Tottenham Hotspur takes on Arsenal on NBC Sports network Saturday at 7:25 a.m. Manchester United meets Southampton at 9:55 a.m. followed by West Ham United against Newcastle United.
There's three more Premier League contests Sunday, starting with Leicester City-Watford at 6:55 a.m. Fulham faces Chelsea at 9 a.m. and it's Everton-Liverpool at 11:30 a.m.
 In the Bundesliga, Nurnberg battles Leipzig Saturday at 9:30 a.m. on FoxSports1. Stuttgart faces Hannover Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
The United States' women's team faces England on Fox Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
MASN2 has horse racing Saturday, with the Fountain of Youth stakes from Gulf Stream Park at 5:30 p.m. and Pasadena Stakes from Santa Anita at 6:30 p.m.
There's motocross racing from Atlanta Saturday at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports network.
