Lots of fun has been made of President Obama's throwing and lack of Chicago White Sox knowledge. He's in a bind. He's not really a baseball fan but has to pretend to be one for political consumption.
If he were a real baseball fan, he would mention watching the Hawaii Islanders sometime. Surely a young baseball fan would have made at least one trip to see players one step away from the major leagues.
He arrived in Chicago in the mid 80s, after my favorite White Sox moments - the Orioles' playoff win in 1983. I attended Game 2 in Baltimore, and remember following Game 4 on the radio.
Some advice for the President. Next time he's asked about his favorite White Sox, say Sammy Sosa. George W. Bush traded him away from the Rangers, and later regretted the move.
