Florida State's Bobby Bowden has announced his retirement.
In 1994, the Bluefield High chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes traveled to Wake Forest to watch Florida State play, and I tagged along with the team. The team's sponsor hoped to have Bowden speak to the team, but NCAA rules didn't allow that. (We heard from Wake Forest coach Jim Caldwell instead. He's doing okay now.)
After the game, the players went to the area where Florida State was loading up its busses. Bowden did get to say hello to a few players before heading off for Tallahassee.
