Black and white, or green

I think Obama supporters looking for racism as the inspiration for health care protests are really barking up the wrong tree.
Try green. As in money.
How much have retirement accounts gone down since last September?
How much have housing values dropped in the last two years?
Are people less secure about their employment than two years ago?
That's an awful lot of inspiration to question everything, especially government.
It's a government that over the past eight years was blamed for messing up Iraq and Katrina recovery before the economic troubles. Putting a new man in charge doesn't change those attitudes across the board.
It may come to a surprise to government workers and supporters, but not everybody thinks of government as the solution of their problems. If you trust government to solve those problems, personal financial stability is not a reason to question government. It must be something else.
If Hillary Clinton were president, would the intensity against health care reform be as intense right now? Probably. Then supporters would be blaming sexism.
You can't understand the concerns of health care protesters if you see poor motivations behind them. Misunderstood protesters are going to fight harder and longer, and you'll end up losing and not knowing why.
