Facebook quote of the week
If I ever run for public office, one of my first priorities will be to push a ban on auto-start videos on websites. Huge pet peeve! Ugh.

Who needs TV ads?
There's been lots of fussing about Donald Trump's lack of fundraising and early TV ads in swing states.
But how effective are those means of reaching the voters?
Compared to what I saw at the grocery store today.
Donald Trump's money would have trouble buying the good publicity he gets this weekend when millions of Americans hit the stores.

French Lives Matter
Who would crash a truck into a crowd of patriotic French?
Not racist cops.
Not any groups President Obama appears to be worried about.

Stop the presses
For seven-plus years, my work night ended when the first newspapers rolled off the presses.
Many nights, I had to make a quick review of headlines to make sure there were no major mistakes - or else we'd have to stop the presses.
Then I'd leave through the parking lot full of people waiting to drive copies of the paper to their home areas.
In a few months, that press will go silent.
It's happened at papers around the country, and now it's come to Bluefield.

Remember when America had a real president
George W. Bush spoke today in Dallas.
With their deaths, we have lost so much. We are grief stricken, heartbroken and forever grateful. Every officer has accepted a calling that sets them apart.
Most of us imagine if the moment called for, that we would risk our lives to protect a spouse or a child. Those wearing the uniform assume that risk for the safety of strangers. They and their families share the unspoken knowledge that each new day can bring new dangers.
This is how you do it.

There was no shootout
When talking gun control, advocates bring up the possibility of shootouts when multiple people have guns in an area.
Thursday in Dallas, multiple people had guns at the rally.
Only the shooter and police shot.
Dallas Police Chief David Brown estimated that 20 to 30 open-carry activists attended the rally. He said some wore gas masks, bulletproof vests and fatigues. They ran when the shots rang out, but the presence of so many armed individuals at the scene of a sniper attack caused instant confusion.
Police questioned those with permits.
They didn't fire shots at the shooter or wildly into the crowd.

Police - a force for good
How do you see police?
As a threat to you?
As the force for good, keeping you and your community safe?
If two people have divergent views of the police, how to you bridge the gap?
When police are involved in a bad situation - where someone dies - was it their intention for bad to happen?
Doubtful.
They were doing their job, protecting and serving the community.
If intent matters, then police as a group should be viewed as good.

Making an offer you can't refuse
Don Surber has been on the ground floor of the Trump run to the nomination.
But he sees trouble ahead after Hillary's last few weeks.
Starting with Bill's meeting with Loretta Lynch.
Because it made it look like the fix is in, and voters do not want to be on the side that is losing. Hillary is invulnerable.
Just what Clinton and Lynch talked about does not matter. In politics, words are secondary to pictures. Graphics matter. The word in Washington was this looked bad. Wrong. He looked like the consigliere delivering the offer she could not refuse.

Facebook quote of the week
I just dreamed that Ray and I were on a 2-person bicycle on one of those like Tibetan skinny cliff roads. We lost balance, because SOMEBODY insisted he should steer, and toppled toward the ground. As we fell backwards, all I could manage was, "I love you, good-bye. " Then, I woke up in full-blown panic.

Hillary, the bad example
Hillary says she cares about the children.
But what are children learning from her today?
If you tell enough lies, you can get away from not following the rules?
The whole email mess is a litany of bad examples.
The rules say my emails are government records.
She says they are hers to decide.
The rules say keep secrets safe from enemy governments.
She says physical security is what she needs against cyber criminals.
Hillary keeps saying "I wouldn't do it again."
How many things will she do wrong in the future, and attempt to use that line?

Talking about lying Hillary all day long
What's the theme of the day?
FBI won't charge Hillary Clinton?
Or that she said to the public.
Again
and Again
And Again.
It's hard to imagine Lynch speaking in public about how Clinton and her aides were "extremely careless" about national security, obvious though that was, or the high probability that the Clinton's server, not to mention her cell phone (!), was hacked by foreign powers. There were also several new revelations, such as the surprising fact that there were actually multiple personal servers, not just one. This was prevarication of a high and deliberate order.
This part of the story may be over.
But it's still four months until election day.
Do you trust your future to Lying Hillary?

What we know. What the Russians know
Hugh Hewitt puts the Hillary email situation into simple terms.
Ask yourself how you would feel if your worst three enemies had every bit of email, text and direct messages you had sent and received for the past five years. Would you be vulnerable to them? Could they manipulate you or your correspondents? Could they do so without you knowing? Would they have a detailed knowledge of you, your methods and operations, your strengths and your weaknesses?
That's the situation with Hillary Clinton and America's enemies. To prevent such situations the government insists that those trusted with its secrets and even just those trusted with its leadership use encrypted devices and often retreat to "Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities" to discuss crucial matters. Those facilities are as secure as we can make them from prying eyes and machines.
Secretary Clinton broke all those rules.

Talking points time
The New York Times' report on Hillary Clinton's meeting with the FBI makes for interesting reading.
They follow the talking points.
Second paragraph starts - The voluntary interview.
That's how the Clinton campaign wanted it called.
But if it was voluntary, why wait until now?
She could have volunteered to talk months ago.
The FBI wasn't ready to hear her story until they had a better idea of the true story.
Later, there's a note of about "None of the emails on Mrs. Clinton’s private server were marked classified at the time they were sent or received."
Who knows if that's true or not?
The FBI.
Who has pushed the idea that no classified information was involved in the email server?
Team Clinton.
If the Clinton side of the story was totally true, there's be no need for today's interview.
They wouldn't have needed to talk with Hillary Clinton. The agents have better things to do on the Fourth of July weekend.
But defending our nation is their job, and that job doesn't take a holiday.

Just like we "voluntarily" pay our taxes each year.
