Ready for the post election battles

The last three days show those hoping for reduction of the political tensions are dreaming.
We always knew a Trump election would bring great chaos - from those who can't believe people would vote for him.
The email story revives the hopes of Republicans - instead of a trouncing, there will be plenty of ammo to toss after November 8.
And it will be tossed.

Outside Wrigley

So nice to see a big banner with "Hillary for Prison" behind the Fox team prior to tonight's Game 5.
Maybe there's hope for Chicago.

You show me yours and I'll show you mine

Watching Fox News Sunday, Chris Wallace mentioned a report that Anthony Weiner turned over the computer in question to the FBI.
He's in trouble for sending texts to an underage girl.
He has motive to tell the FBI what he knows about Hillary Clinton.
If he saves his skin by sacrificing her, what difference does it make?

That's what friends are for

The New York Times gives us a look at the relationship between Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin.
The jolting development highlighted not only the intersecting lives of Mrs. Clinton, Ms. Abedin and Mr. Weiner, but also the pattern that has characterized the Clintons’ relationships with the sometimes oddly behaving inhabitants of their insular world: Even amid accusations of sexual or financial impropriety, the Clintons’ first instinct is to hunker down and protect those in their orbit, sometimes leading to more ugly eruptions later and, eventually, to messy public breakups.
Are the Clintons loyal to their friends?
Or do they attract dysfunctional types like themselves?

Trump will be up 10 next week

Last Sunday, the ABC/Washington Post poll was big news - Hillary up 12.
Today, her lead is only two.
At that pace, Trump will be running away with things November 8.
Or the first poll with a 12-point lead was lousy bad.

Great eight

This blog has made it to eight years.
It's been a scary eight years.
And who knows what lies ahead.
But we stand strong and move on.

If I could turn back time

Megan McArdle looks at the difficulty looming next year - if Democrats want to "tweak" Obamacare.
And this is true of every idea that starts with “All we need to do.” If “All we need to do” to fix some substantial problem were cheap and politically popular, it would already have been done, and we wouldn’t be talking about it. The stuff we argue about is, almost by definition, the stuff that’s hard.
Needless to say, Republicans are not going to be eager to do something hard and unpopular largely in order to save a program that was passed over their strenuous objections and is now hurting their political opponents. So if all we need to do is persuade Republicans to abandon their objections to Obamacare, and possibly their own electoral futures, in order to bail Democrats out of the mess they created, then we’re all going to be living with these problems for a very long time.

Are you sure about this?

Maybe Hillary Clinton appearing to have a big lead two weeks before Election Day was a good thing.
With most of the attention on Trump the entire year, people have had a chance to focus on what would happen in a Hillary presidency?
It reminds me of the computer warning you used to get when planning to delete something.
Are you sure about this?

And Friday's email news helps those thinking about what lies ahead.
It's not something new.
But it gives an easy way to comprehend what concerns you about the candidate.
Just like the Billy Bush video did to Trump.
Eleven days to go.
Plenty of time to think about making the right decision.

Fighting the Hillbullies

Scott Adams has enticed Hillary Clinton supporters to go crazy.
Just by noticing how quiet terrorists have been lately.
I engineered the offending tweet to make the point that ISIS appears to prefer a Clinton presidency. That puts Clinton’s supporters on the same side as ISIS, at least in the narrow sense that they might prefer the same candidate. That creates a conflict between Clinton supporters’ self-image as good people and the uncomfortable reality that they might prefer the same candidate as ISIS. If my point is credible, the predicted result is that it would induce cognitive dissonance and a literal hallucination.
And it did.
And he wants you to join the fun.
Watch the ongoing Twitter battle at @ScottAdamsSays as I trigger the #Hillbullies to annihilate their moral authority by acting on their cognitive dissonance and coming after me in full-bully force. It is good entertainment.

Something to talk about

Glenn Reynolds gives us some important things to talk about instead of Donald Trump's past behavior.
Corruption, unaffordable healthcare, a burgeoning national debt: These are all things that will have serious consequences for Americans for decades, to come. In a healthier society, our election would turn on these issues. But we do not live in such a society. And that suits politicians, and their supporters in the press, just fine.

Stand up for Trump

Scott Adams returns to the Trump fold - after watching Hillary supporters in action.
The Clinton message is that some Americans are good people and the other 40% are some form of deplorables, deserving of shame, vandalism, punishing taxation, and violence. She has literally turned Americans on each other. It is hard for me to imagine a worse thing for a presidential candidate to do.

Seeking Negan's mandate

The Wall Street Journal looks to 2017 and whether the winner gets a mandate.
Hillary's mandate appears to be she's not Donald Trump.
Trump's mandate appears to be straight and not crooked.
We all fear they want Negan's mandate from The Walking Dead - rule by fear and smash those who disagree.

Not what it's cracked up to be

Several sites have posted Cracked's story on why there are so many Trump voters in rural areas.
It's how different the world looks there compared to the cities where elites live.
Blacks riot, Muslims set bombs, gays spread AIDS, Mexican cartels behead children, atheists tear down Christmas trees. Meanwhile, those liberal Lena Dunhams in their $5,000-a-month apartments sip wine and say, "But those white Christians are the real problem!" Terror victims scream in the street next to their own severed limbs, and the response from the elites is to cry about how men should be allowed to use women's restrooms and how it's cruel to keep chickens in cages.

Undefeated teams watch

The last undefeated team of the 2016 NFL team suffered its first loss today - Minnesota losing to Philadelphia.
Once again, the 1972 Miami Dolphins stand alone as the only undefeated team of the Super Bowl era.

Issues? Issues? Issues?

What's the theme of media coverage this election?
"Why does Donald Trump talk about things that step on his message."
Then
"Let's talk about things other than his message."
It's more fun to talk about bad behavior around women.
The issues about government will remain.
The debt keeps growing.
The media had its chance.
And will spend the next year wondering why the media is held in low esteem.

Where to watch

The Cubs are in the World Series.
Bet there will be a few features on the rooftops outside the park.
They will be having busy weekends.

Rigged before the voting booth

The media has gone crazy over Donald Trump thinking the election is rigged.
How can millions of votes be rigged to go to Hillary Clinton?
That's not the way this election is rigged.
It's been rigged since way before the voting started.
In how the issues are presented.
Have we talked about the deficit any this fall?
It's rigged in how the current administration and its staff has kept Clinton from facing trouble.
Sadly, we have a central government without independent newspapers. Not a single one of the majors has the intestinal fortitude to stand up to Hillary Clinton, who co-opted their reporters. Indeed, the newspaper owners and executives have invested millions in her election.
Newspapers push the global warming nonsense, which is a cover for pouring billions into the pockets of billionaires including Elon Musk, George P. Kaiser (Solyndra), and T. Boone Pickens. The reporters pushing this are smug idiots. These social justice warriors with a J-degree naively bloviate against the Big Oil companies, while unwittingly providing cover for real crooks to empty the treasury.

That rigging must be addressed - for Republicans to have any future chances.

Thought for before the debate

Scott Adams gets ready for the third and final presidential debate with his closing argument.
Trump represents what is likely to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring real change to a government that is bloated and self-serving.  Reasonable people can disagree on policies and priorities. But Trump is the bigger agent for change, if that’s what you think the country needs. I want voters to see that choice for what it is.

The case for and against

Daily Pundit sums up the race with three weeks to go.
* One Candidate is an unindicted career political criminal with a verifiable record of political and personal corruption and illicit activity stretching back more than a decade before her ascendance to her first major political position by virtue of marriage of convenience to an even more charismatic and electable political criminal.
The other Candidate is a multi-decades long figure who’s been in the world wide media and public scrutiny for longer than some hostile media figures have been out of diapers about whom the worst that has been dug up and exposed is that he’s filed for bankruptcy a couple of times and that he once said “pussy” in a taped conversation. Oh, and he has tiny, vulgar hands, too. So there.
There's more where that came from, pussycat.

Keeping your head off the platter

The Blaze let a contributor offer a curious take on the beheading of John the Baptist, as told in Mark 6.
He's trying to link NeverTrump crew with John, telling how they stand up to the power of Trump.
Except, is Trump the power you need to worry about?
Evangelicals who support Trump worry more about the power of a Hillary Clinton presidency - and see their heads being put on a platter.
John the Baptist wasn't killed by Herod for what he said - Herod got tricked.
21 Finally the opportune time came. On his birthday Herod gave a banquet for his high officials and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee. 22 When the daughter of[d] Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests.
The king said to the girl, “Ask me for anything you want, and I’ll give it to you.” 23 And he promised her with an oath, “Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom.”
24 She went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask for?”
“The head of John the Baptist,” she answered.
25 At once the girl hurried in to the king with the request: “I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”
26 The king was greatly distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he did not want to refuse her. 27 So he immediately sent an executioner with orders to bring John’s head.
It's much easier to see Hillary's crew attacking Christians on a whim than Trump - the broken vessel that he may be - leading us astray.

See no evil

John Kass explains the media's views of Hillary Clinton.
The presidential campaign is now centered below the American belt, where Hillary Clinton desperately needed it to go.
It is all about using Donald Trump's history of alleged sexual aggression to destroy him with women voters.
And this is necessary for Clinton, because it distracts media attention away from hacked and Wikileaked emails that would otherwise damage her campaign.

The Tennessee Volunteers have provided plenty of excitement on the gridiron this season.
Saturday should be no different.
The Volunteers host top-ranked Alabama on CBS at 3:30 p.m. for their fourth straight appearance on the network. Second half rallies ended losing skeins to Florida and Georgia before last week's double overtime loss to Texas A&M dropped the Volunteers from the ranks of the unbeatens.

King Solomon could not be reached for comment

UNESCO - the United Nations' cultural committee - voted today to deny Jewish connections to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
Jerusalem.
City of David.
Whose son Solomon built a temple.
Guess 3,000 years of history doesn't mean much to the United Nations' cultural crew.

When Donald met Bill

Wonder what Donald Trump and Bill Clinton talked about when they met before Trump announced his candidacy?
Bill probably said "People don't care about your personal life. Look at me."

Groping for hope

Scott Adams appears to have thrown in the towel on the Trump candidacy.
It's hard to grope for hope amidst groping accusations at Trump.
Because we aren't talking policies if that's important to you.
Trump could still win, but only if some new and unexpected meteor strikes Clinton. Here’s how I see it through the persuasion filter:
1. Facts and policies stopped mattering months ago. No one cares.
2. Wikileaks has no meteors to offer. The Wikileaks misdeeds involve people who are not Clinton, and they involve issues that are boring and a bit complicated. The public will not be much influenced by them.
You have to wonder - didn't the other Republican candidates know people who could have brought up this stuff last fall.

Rowe's wisdom

Qpolitical shares Mike Rowe's thoughts on voting.
"I can’t personally encourage everyone in the country to run out and vote. I wouldn’t do it, even if I thought it would benefit my personal choice. Because the truth is, the country doesn’t need voters who have to be cajoled, enticed, or persuaded to cast a ballot. We need voters who wish to participate in the process. So if you really want me to say something political, how about this – read more.”

Truth about Russia

Over at DaTech Guy, a few notes about the reality of modern-day Russia.
The next president needs a serious reset with Putin. He’s tough and smart. He’s hardly the caricature the media use to portray him. He’s a leader of one of the most important countries in the world, and the United States needs to figure out a way to discuss the relationship between the two countries. Clinton has certainly failed to do that.
If Clinton is elected president, she will start with two major enemies: China and Russia. If Trump is elected, at least he would start out with only one, China, and the possibility of restoring some sense of order with Russia.

After Trump loses

If you think Donald Trump is going to lose Election Day, have you thought how life will be after that?
Will he go quietly on with his life?
Or will be seek publicity wherever he can?
If Sunday's debate performance is an indication, the next four weeks are a preview of the attacks Hillary Clinton will be getting.
Any problem will bring Trump's rebuke.
And you think the media won't cover him?
They gave him tons of free press in the primary season, and got the ratings to boost them.
In terms the ancient Romans understood, he will likely salt the earth.
Keep pounding on things he think Hillary and the Democrats, and his other opponents, do wrong.
Somebody in the media will be getting rich from giving Trump airtime.
Trump's followers will not be crushed as Democrats hope - no matter the size of the loss.
Their issues remain - and their intense dislike of the Clintons will only rise.
No way Trump goes quietly.

Remember "Ball Four"

Do guys in the locker room talk like Donald Trump did on the video?
Jim Bouton said they did in 1969 during the writing of "Ball Four."
It may not happen in all locker rooms, but Bouton said it did in the majors and minors where he played.
Or maybe you need to watch Bull Durham.

Undefeated team watch

Three teams entered Sunday undefeated.
Only one remains now - the Minnesota Vikings.
And they will remain so until Oct. 23 - it's their bye next week.
The 1972 Miami Dolphins continue watching.

He made up something good

Via Instapundit, the story of a Tennessee student who received a zero on a quiz.
Because he couldn't remember the lab instructor's name.
Keaton Wahlbon, a freshman majoring in economics, was apparently given a zero by an instructor who wrote "inappropriate" on his quiz next to his answer to the question, "What is your lab instructor's name? (If you don't remember make something good up.)"
Wahlbon wrote "Sarah Jackson" — also the name of a lingerie model and actress with a handful of TV credits, including as a model on the 2007 show "Deal or No Deal," according to IMDB.com.
She asked for a good name.

Speak now, or forever hold your peace

Who are the loudest voices wanting Donald Trump to exit the race?
Those who didn't like him in the first place.
Those who couldn't stop him over the past 15 months since he moved to the front of the Republican field.
They had 15 months to find this type of recording and derail his candidacy.
They failed.
If they knew there was such stuff out there, why not use it last fall?
If they didn't, how come they didn't?
People have been waiting for Trump to blow up.
This isn't it.
It's not something he's doing now, but something from the past tripping him up.
Since when is Trump's past more important to discuss than the country's future?

Still on the Trump train

Does Friday's cat fight change the election?
Not for Scott Adams, traveling in Europe.
5. I assume that 75% of male heads of state, including our own past presidents, are total dogs in their private lives. Like it or not, Trump is normal in that world.
Not for DaTech Guy.
Why would I do this?  Quite simple, I’m not going to let myself be played.  Let me explain.
To those who have endorsed Donald Trump, the idea that he is both boastful and vulgar has been a given, it has been factored into the equation concerning him.  Furthermore his public persona has been out there for decades and he has never pretended to be anything other than what he is.  I further suspect the voting public has already factored this into their image of Trump and it is unlikely that this revelation is going to move those who haven’t made up their minds one way or the other despite the shocked faces at CNN.
Who's ready for Sunday's debate?

Remembering Mighty Moe

Powerline has been doing baseball history posts for a while.
Today's focuses on the 1966 World Series, when Moe Drabowsky struck out 11 Dodgers in Game 1 en route to the Orioles' four-game sweep.
I remember his return to the Orioles, and got to interview him in 1995 when he visits Bluefield to teach the Baby Birds some pitching.

I survived the hype of 2016

Hurricane Matthew did not drown Rush Limbaugh.
He's on the air again, after Matthew passed his part of Florida.
This is a different storm - most don't hug the coast like this. They blast an area, like Hugo in 1989 and Katrina in 2005 and then move onshore.
This one pushed lots of people from the homes - just in case it turned bad.
This weekend, they'll be stuck in traffic headed home.
Their neighbors who rode out the storm will be all cleaned up before they get back.

Tebow makes a move

The New York Mets are going to assign Tim Tebow to the Arizona Fall League.
It's a league for the best of the best prospects to finetune their games - hopefully before moving to the majors.
Let's see how Tebow does against this competition.

Undefeated teams watch

Five teams entered the week undefeated.
The Eagles had a bye.
The Patriots and Ravens went down.
The Broncos made it through the rain in Tampa Bay.
The Vikings continued in the undefeated ranks Monday.
We're down to one possible battle of undefeated teams left in the regular season - Vikings against Eagles Oct. 23.
If they keep winning.
The 1972 Miami Dolphins keep watching.

Fighting the Clinton trolls

Scott Adams tells of his internet woes - getting shadowbanned on Twitter and losing another speaking gig.
But he's not down.
All things considered, I had a great week. I didn’t realize I was having enough impact to get on the Clinton enemies list. I don’t think I’m supposed to be happy about any of this, but that’s not how I’m wired.
Mmm, critics. Delicious :-)

Woulda, coulda, mighta

The New York Times' big scoop - based on information from 1995, Donald Trump might have done something.
The fire under all of this smoke is, of course, barely enough to light a cigar, but that’s not the point of the story. You’ll notice a constant set of phrases in all of the coverage of this “bombshell” release. They include things such as, might have and could have or may not have paid. That’s because the actual document only shows a massive loss which Trump claimed in 1995. What’s been established is that the loss in question opened the door to Trump potentially not owing any federal taxes over a considerable period of time because of the $916M loss. What’s also mentioned in decidedly muted tones is that if Trump wound up not owing any federal tax, that it was completely legal.
How about sharing someone's tax information. Is that legal?
I wonder where those tax documents came from? The person who the Times describes as an anonymous source might want to take a look at 26 U.S. Code § 6103 – Confidentiality and disclosure of returns and return information. The law has been broken here, but there’s scant mention of that in the Gray Lady. Imagine our surprise.
Since the New York Times and their allies are engaging in the speculation game here (“could have paid no taxes” etc.) let’s do a bit of that ourselves. What are the odds that the original person or persons who illegally obtained Trump’s tax documents and gifted them to the Gray Lady were only able to get their hands on a few pages of partial tax documents from a single year? Pretty much zero. There’s probably quite a bit more and the Times almost certainly is sitting on them, just as they likely sat on these documents until what they deemed was the most opportune time to provide the maximum help to Hillary Clinton.
